This is just to Motivate those who just Graduated their undergrad in BSc. Specifically those who majored in Biochemistry or Microbiology. This my story. 2018: I completed my Degree in BSc. My majors were both Biochem and Micro.2019: I graduated and this wasn’t such a pleasant year coz I wasn’t accepted for Post-Grad and I didn’t know what was next with my career.2020 Feb: I decided to go job hunting. I remember clearly that when I left home, my dad asked me “but where are we going” I was like “I don’t know” Then I googled “Labs near me”. On that day, with my badly constructed CV I walked in at PathLabs after a long day of being chased away from Lab to Lab. That’s when I landed my 1st Job and little did I Know that a foot in would be the beginning of my Career Growth. A Food company called Foodfacts had just started operating in the same building and that’s where I sharpened my knowledge in Food Micro2021: Covid Hit. The lab introduced PCR covid testing and this is where shined as a Team Leader and an Analyst ( Molecular Biology practical work was were I strived the most back in varsity).Not to mentioned I had to juggle my role in the Food Lab because we were in the process of method verification to get the lab accredited. 2022: I Became a Senior Analyst.2023: surveillance assessment happened with SANAS I had to take on the Technical side and defend our system. For a beginner, I was proud to come out with only 7 NCs. 2024: It was officially 4 years of working for both PathLabs and Foodfacts on the 04/02/2024. Today(21/02/2024)I was assessed by SANAS for Technical Signatory and I did Very Well. To Employers, please give a graduate the opportunity. To Graduates, if the opportunity presents itself, take it and run with it. Training only is not enough. As an individual, go the extra mile, research, have a positive attitude an always find ways go an extra mile. Trust me they will see your efforts.
