Shannen Doherty died on July 13, 2024, leaving behind a treasure trove of teen angst stardom in Beverly Hills, 90210 and magical moments as a witch in Charmed—but her career spanned more than the two series for which she was best known.
With roots in child stardom and key roles in cult classic movies, Doherty's career should have soared—but rumors of rifts onset with co-stars made her reputation, however fairly or unfairly, precede her.
“I have a rep. Did I earn it? Yeah, I did. But, after a while you sort of try to shed that rep because you’re kind of a different person,” Doherty told Parade in 2019. “You’ve evolved and all of the bad things you’ve done in your life have brought you to a much better place.”
Still, she was a hard worker and was determined to keep going, even when fighting stage IV metastatic cancer.
"I don't want to die," she told PEOPLEin November 2023. "I'm not done with living. I'm not done with loving. I'm not done with creating. I'm not done with hopefully changing things for the better."

However, that estimate likely wasn't taking the full costs of her medical bills into consideration— and they couldn't have been cheap.Doherty battled metastatic breast cancer off and on since 2015 until her death in July 2024.
She was also in litigation with her estranged husband Kurt Iswarienko, who she accused of prolonging their divorce to avoid paying her spousal support. She requested a little over $15,000 per month from her ex, in part to afford health insurance, as her coverage was dropped from SAG-AFTRA because she was unable to work while she was sick.
Days before her death, Dohertysaid on her podcast, Let's Be Clear With Shannen Doherty,"I guess I'm in a mindset now of I need to make as much money as humanly possible in the next two years, bank it, put it with my investment place, build that so that ... I don't have to work and I only work when I really want to. I can also go on a lot more vacations. Then also, when I pass away, my mom's got a nice little nest egg and I don't have to worry about her."

How much did Shannen Doherty make on Charmed?
Doherty reportedly made about $75,000 per episode of Charmed. However, those figures haven't been substantiated.
When she left the show, it was clear there was bad blood.
"There was too much drama on the set and not enough passion for the work,” Doherty told Entertainment Tonight in 2001, adding, "Idon't have time for drama in my life anymore."
Doherty came forward in recent years and accused Milano of getting her fired from the show. Milano denied the allegations, which Holly Marie Combs corroborated.
Doherty refuted Milano's denial, saying in February 2024, "I recall the facts as if I were still living in them, and what I will say is that what somebody else may call drama is an actual trauma for me that I have lived with for an extremely long time. And it is only through my battle with cancer that I decided to address this trauma and be open and honest about it, so that I can actually heal from a livelihood that was taken away from me, a livelihood that was taken away from my family, because someone else wanted to be No. 1 on the call sheet. That is the truth."
