Monster after monster, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangershave saved the Earth more times than anyone can count. It’s not easy, as they never knowwhen Rita Repulsa or Lord Zedd will send down some new horrible monstrosity to take over the planet. It’s a dirty and risky job, but somebody’s got to do it. The Power Rangers, despite being teenagers with attitude, have proven time and again that they are more than qualified for the position of protectors of Earth.
Armed with incredible weapons and fueled by a sense of incomparable camaraderie and teamwork, the Mighty Morphin Powers Rangers rarely come across a challenge they can’t overcome. Yet, when the going gets tough, the Power Rangers have to get tougher. Sometimes a Power Blaster and all of its bells and whistles simply aren’t enough, as Rita gets tired of watching her monsters struggle against the Rangers. When that happens, thosemonsters grow to the size of skyscrapers. With no other options at their disposal, the Power Rangers summon their equally giant dinosaur-themed Zords to merge into the giant Megazord robot.

Over their lengthy time in the spotlight, the Rangers utilized an impressive range of Zords of different shapes, colors, and varieties. Here at CBR, we’re going to take a look at 15 of the most powerful Zords in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
15 T-REX/TYRANNOSAURUS ZORD
Occasionally the first line of defense, whenever the other Zords were indisposed, against Rita’s giant monsters, the Red Ranger’s Tyrannosaurus Zord iswithout a doubt one of the coolest Zords in the Mighty Morphin series. After all, who wouldn’t want to hang out with giant T-Rex robot?
It’s easy to think that without the rest of the Zords and the ability to transform into the Megazord, the T-Rex Zord was a pushover, but that’d be an unfair assessment. While almost never destroying a monster on its own, it was stronger than the other individual Zords. Armed with the ability to fire lasers from its eyes and seismic blasts from its mouth, it was a treat to see the T-Rex team up with the likes of Dragonzord.
14 DRAGONZORD
Which leads us to the Green Ranger’s Dragonzord. Arguably the most iconic Zord in the franchise, minus the actual Dino Megazord, the Dragonzord proved that tiny dagger-flutes could summon epic mechanical beasts out of the ocean. The Dragonzord’s appearances sported a theme everyone Power Ranger fan recognized and the Dragonzord’s power was inspiring.
While it might have started evil, thanks to Rita Repulsa, the Dragonzord would become an invaluable ally, saving the Megazord on multiple occasions. Armed with missiles that sprung from his fingers and a drill-tipped tail that could be used to devastating effect, the Dragonzord could more than hold his own against other monsters. Later, the Dragonzord, acting as the key for other Zord fusions, would be able to merge with the other Dinozords, transforming them into Dragonzord Battle Mode and the Ultra Megazord, the two most powerful Megazord transformations in the first season.
13 DINO MEGAZORD
This one is the epitome of what every other show wanted to be when it came to giant robots. The classic, and perhaps favorite, Megazord, the Dino Megazord is easily the most recognizable out of all the other Megazords that followed. Afusion of the Mastodon, Pterodactyl, Triceratops, Sabertooth Tiger, and Tyrannosaurus Zords, the Dino Megazord boasted incredible raw power.
Slaying monster after monster with the aid of the Power Sword and the likes of the Dragonzord, the Megazord would serve the Power Rangers dutifully. Armed with said sword and the Mastodon shield, it also had the ability to fire various laser-based attacks, though the Megazord’s strong suit was in hand-to-hand combat. There’s a reason why the first Megazord stood out amongst all the others that came after. Its simple, yet elegant design, along with destroying over 20 monsters on its own, boosted the giant mech to legendary status.
12 WHITE TIGERZORD
Debuting with an awesome theme song, like most of theheroic arrivals on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the White Tigerzord was apersonal fighting machine forTommy Oliver, after hebecame the White Ranger. Able to transform on its own without the need for other Zords, the White Tigerzord could stand up to most monsters, holding out until the other Rangers arrived.
Since it was wasn’t the White Ranger TV Show, the White Tigerzord didn’t have the chance to take down every monster, but with its ability to shoot fireballs and mimic the martial arts of its driver, in any other circ*mstance, it should have. Even so, similar to the Dragonzord, the Tigerzord’s real power came from acting as the centerpiece for the other Thunder Zords, in creating the Mega Tigerzord…we'll have more on that later.
11 RED DRAGON THUNDERZORD
In the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, our heroes, after losing their original Zords to Lord Zedd’s machinations, weresupplied by Zordon with newer, stronger Zords. They are the Thunder Zords. Out of all the Thunder Zords, the Red Dragon Thunderzord could turn into a Megazord on its own. Sporting the look of a super cool fire dragon, the Red Dragon Thunderzord could shift out of its mythic form and take on the humanoid Warrior mode.
The Red Dragon Thunderzord would sometimes ride the White Tigerzord into battle, attacking foes with his staff that he could whirl at great speeds to devastating effect. Similar to other none-joined Zords, like the White Tigerzord and Tyrannosaurus Dinozord, Red Dragon could and did defeat several monsters in its day.
10 FALCONZORD
It’s easy to understand why Tommy Oliver is a totalfan favorite. He was incrediblybadass in every sense of the word, especially as his time as the Green Ranger, but he also got the best Zords; first the Dragonzord, then the White Tiger Zord, and finally, the Falconzord. Seriously, who doesn’t love the idea of having a friend, who’s also a giant metal falcon, raining fire down on your enemies? Well,that’s exactly what thisZord did, shooting missiles out of its wings and letting loose epic cries sounding its arrival. While the Falconzord might not have been the strongest, it was visually cool. It also helped to boost the power of the Ninja Megazord and the Shogun Megazord in times of duress. What a bird!
9 DRAGONZORD BATTLE MODE
When the Dino Megazord’s power wasn’t enough, the Power Rangers could combine into the even more powerful Dragon Megazord, or Dragonzord Battle Mode if you’re feeling haughty. Made possible once the Green Ranger officially joined the team, the addition of the Dragonzord’s power to the rest of the Rangers’ Zords made for an impressive machine. During the transformation, the Tyrannosaur, Mastodon, and Pterodactyl Zords would be removed from the combining, leaving the Dragonzord to reshape itself with the Triceratops and Sabertooth Tiger Zords.
Armed with a massive drill spear that would impale enemies and destroy them from the inside out, and sporting a defensive chest-plate that could withstand an intense range of both physical and energy-related attacks, few foes could stand up to Dragonzord Battle Mode.
8 CYCLOPSIS
It’s easy to forget that not every Megazord fought with the good guys. Enter Cyclopsis, one of the baddest villains the Power Rangers ever had to contend with. Cyclopsis was a Zord by Rita’s own design that was piloted by Goldar.
Seemingly unbeatable, Cylopsis defeated the Rangers repeatedly, even cutting off the Megazord’s arm and Dragonzord’s tail. It would adapt and learn from anything the Power Rangers threw at it. The combined might of the Megazord and Dragonzord were nothing to Cyclopsis and even Dragonzord Battle Mode proved completely useless against it. Cyclopsis challenged the Rangers like never before, pushing them to the absolute brink. Eventually, after using every weapon and stratagy at their disposal, including summoning the Ultrazord and unleashing its full might, were the Power Rangers able to bring Cyclopsis down.
7 ULTRAZORD
When theirfoes were able to withstand Dragonzord Battle Mode, the Rangers had no choice but to turn into their strongest form, the Ultra Megazord. It was without question the strongest Zord in the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Ultra Megazord, who occasionally was just referred to as Ultrazord, was the fusion of the Dino Megazord, Dragonzord, and Titanus, the Ultrazord, coming into one massive beast of a Zord that simply could not be matched.
Combining into a sort of tank, with the top half of the Dragonzord mixing with the top half ofDino Megazord, it was capable of letting loose an ridiculously powerful barrage of missiles and energy weapons. Ever the last resort, called on only in the direst of circ*mstances, the Ultra Megazord never failed at putting an enemy down.
6 THUNDER MEGAZORD
After Lord Zedd all but destroyed the dinosaur Zords in the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Zordon and Alpha 5 went to work. From the bits and pieces that were left, they were able to reconstitute the broken Zords into new Zords, creating the Thunder Zords.
Vastly stronger than their predecessors, their new combined form was the Thunder Megazord. Resembling a samurai, the Thunder Megazord didn’t have a greater form it could turn into, which could be a testament to its power; every other major Megazord has at least more than one transformation or could combine with other Zords. While the Thunder Megazord found itself outmatched on more than one occasion, it gave as good as it got, usually putting down Zedd’s monsters with little effort and with the swipe of its massive energy-laden katana.
5 MEGA TIGERZORD
The appearance of the Tigerzord was a pivotal moment for the Power Rangers, Just as the addition of Dragonzord to their ranks helped increase their power, so too did the Tigerzord’s inclusion. Intimidating virtually every monster that encountered it, the Mega Tigerzord was the fusion of the Tigerzord and the other Thunderzords, not including the Red Dragon Thunderzord, as it would stand by its side in the midst of battle. The Mega Tigerzord would plowthrough every attack its opponents would fire its way, easily shrugging them off. Its special finishing move included firing the Pterodactyl-Firebird Thunderzord like a missile, warping reality ever so slightly as the projectile decimated anything it hit. When Rito Revolto finally destroyed the Thunderzords, curiously, despite the level of the stakes they were facing, the Power Rangers didn’t form the Mega Tigerzord; it could have turned the tide of the fight.
4 TITANUS
The centerpiece, or Carrierzord, to the Dinozords, Ninjazords, and Shogunzords, Titanus helped them all reach their ultimate forms. It also just so happened that Titanus looked like a brachiosaur. An insanely powerful Zord, with laser beams and rockets firing out of his mouth and shoulder, Titanus was not to be messed with. His power and attitude was so great that the Red Ranger and the Green Ranger had to endure a figurative and literal trial by fire just to earn the Zord’s respect, so that it would help them when the time came.
So intimidating was Titanus’s might that even Rita Repulsa intervened to try and destroy the Zord. While it initially appeared like she’d succeeded, Titanus would not be destroyed so easily and was re-energized by Zordon.
3 NINJA FALCONMEGAZORD
Towards the beginning of the third season of Mighty Morhpin’ Power Rangers, both the viewers and the Power Rangers were introduced to Rita Repulsa’s brother, Rito Revolto. Despite acting like a complete idiot, he did what neither Rita or Lord Zedd had been able to accomplish: he destroyed the Thunder Megazord.
Utterly defeated, the Rangers were forced to flee and search out a new power, and find it they did. Discovering the Ninja Power, they also acquired new, stronger Zords: the Ninja Zords. The Ninja Zords could combine to turn into the Ninja Megazord, but thanks to the Falconzord, it could go one step further and transform into the Ninja FalconMegazord, Unlike many of its slow-moving counterparts, the Ninja Megazord, both versions of it, was swift and agile, ducking and weaving all over the place, while simultaneously maintaining its unique power.
2 SERPENTERA
Capable of generating nuclear-sized explosions, Serpentera is the largest Zord in the entire franchise. Unfortunately, Lord Zedd pilots the fearsome dragon, as it would tower over anything the Rangers had to offer, able to defeat the Thunder Megazord in one hit. Against Serpentera, there was little the Power Rangers could do except run and hide. Of course, they would try and fight the giant mechanical monstrosity, but it would usually prove fruitless.
The only reason the flying dragon of destruction isn’t number one is because of its fatal weakness: it ran out of power very quickly. Nearly as soon as it arrived on the field of battle, its energy would be almost completely spent, forcing it to retreat before a finishing blow could be delivered. This would happen several times, yet the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would never truly defeat it.
1 SHOGUN MEGAFALCONZORD
The Shogun Megazord was originally intended to be used against the Rangers by Lord Zedd and company, but the Power Rangers wrested control of the Shogun Zords away from them. Similar to many other Megazords, the Shogun Megazord, was slow, but brimming with raw power. However, it was its final form, the Shogun MegaFalconzord that takes the cake as the most powerful Zord in Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.
Yet despite its awesome power, the Shogun MegaFalconzord, was only around for about 16 episodes; it didn’t destroy nearly as many monsters as the original Dino Megazord. Still, with the ability to also hop into Titanus, the Shogun Ultrazord was scary in terms of raw strength; there was no Zord the Rangers had ever used before that came close to its power.
